all sign and nothing sign with arrows
Nutrition has this misconception that you must do things at 100% in order to see results but this all-or-nothing mentality is not the way to approach change in your life.

By having this all-or-nothing mentality, you are limiting yourself to be successful long term because life is always going to throw you curveballs. We will always have events that come up, holidays and vacations. Thinking that you must commit to eating purely clean with no desserts, cocktails, or being able to eat out at restaurants is just not realistic. This limiting mindset will make you bringe, have a bad relationship with food or even create frustration and anxiety.  This mentality can make you feel inferior and that you will never lose weight or have self-control.

By switching from an all-or-nothing mindset to a growth and open mindset, you’re freeing yourself from perfectionism. You are giving yourself grace to being a human being, as we all should! But moderation is important with our habits. From what we eat, how often we move, what we do for our mental health, hydration and more. If we overdue our habits, just like everything else, we can go down an unhealthy path which leads to sickness.

If you plan on making changes to your health and habits here are some things to keep in mind.
  • Be open to change. Even if it’s scary. Change can be a beautiful thing but taking baby steps is important.
  • Learn from your mistakes. When we go back and look at why things didn’t go as planned, we can pivot, make a new strategy and possibly change our results from the experience.
  • Have a support team. Sharing with friends and family what you are doing and surrounding yourself with people that love and support you will make this journey that much easier.
  • Get expert coaching. There is so much information on the internet now that you might be misled into approaching your journey incorrectly.

So if you decide to make changes in your health, know that you’re not alone. Many people want to feel better, have more energy, even change the trajectory of their path but in order to do that, we need to approach this without an all-or-nothing mentality.
