Cut vegetables in plastic and plastic containers. Nuts in plastic bags. Shredded chicken in a plastic container and instant oatmeal.
As the world starts to open back up, many of us are going on vacation trips that we’ve been waiting to take for a while now. No matter if you plan to travel by air or ground, it’s important to prepare and bring the right things that will keep you on track and healthy this summer. Here are some simple things you can do to make this summer a successful one.

Travel Tips

  • Pack meals and/or snacks. Airports allow you to bring your own snacks and/or meals through security. By bringing your own food, you’ll save money and it’ll allow you to control the quality of the food. When on a road trip, grazing will help prevent overeating when you decide to stop at a restaurant.
  • Try not to skip breakfast or a main meal. By skipping breakfast, you are traveling on an empty stomach which can lead to poor food choices. Making sure you’re fueled first thing will not only keep you satisfied for hours but help avoid cravings as those spike during stress which we all know we experience when traveling.
  • Drink plenty of water. It’s easy to get dehydrated when traveling. Staying hydrated will stray away cravings and keep your energy levels up.
  • Limit the sweets and alcohol. It can be tempting to overindulge with extra drinks and desserts when traveling but this will lead to unwanted weight gain and disrupted sleep. Try to consume in moderation.
  • Wash your hands. As we get back to traveling, we’ll increase our exposure to germs and bacteria. Don’t forget to wash your hands before and after meals.

Traveling and going on vacations are fabulous things we should all experience. It’s the way we go about traveling that can make it healthy or unhealthy. If you want to learn a more personalized approach, email at to see how Nutritionist Kiki can equip you for your travel plans.
